Feb. 3: Fun time at the Super Bowl party, even though the game wasn't very exciting. Food and friends were excellent and everyone had a great evening. Thanks to Mark and Kathy Janes for hosting this event every year.
We welcomed new member, "Doc" Edwards of New Baden with a 1963 roadster at the February meeting.
UPCOMING CLUB EVENTS
March 9: Bobby's Frozen Custard - opening day! Those interested can meet at Bobby's at 1:00 p.m.; drive your Corvette but if the weather's bad or your 'Vette is still in storage, drive whatever you have and let's get together and welcome back our favorite place for frozen treats.
March 23: SAVE THE DATE for our annual club party. The theme will be "The Wild, Wild West." More on this later - committee is working on decorations, photo ops, etc. Check out the invitation our creative genius, Sandy Morris, dreamed up for us! Cost is $30/person includes open bar starting at 5:30 p.m., buffet dinner provided by Sugarfire, and dancing to DJ music from 7:30 - 10:30 p.m. Yee Haw! We're thinking those country line dance lessons from the Wilsons will come in handy at this event and that's no bull! Western attire is optional.
March 30: Rock & roll bingo at the Collinsville Rec Center. For those of you who made reservations and prepaid, Linda Astrauskas will have your tickets at the next meeting. She does have a wait list so if you cannot attend, please let her know so that someone on the wait list can be notified.
April 7-8: Ladies' weekender to Brown County, Indiana. A block of rooms has been reserved for our use at the Brown County Inn; you can share with another lady to save cost to spend later when shopping! More on this at an upcoming meeting.
May 31-June 1: Annual Man-Cruz, planned by Manny Lopez and team. This year's run will be an overnighter to Bowling Green, including a trip to the Corvette Museum. A room block has been reserved at the Drury Inn; phone number, group name, etc. is in the newsletter for those who wish to participate.
June 20-22: Bloomington Gold, Indianapolis Motor Speedway. By now, you've probably heard that this will be a Corvette and Camaro show in order to appeal to a larger audience. The jury's still out on how this will be received by Corvette enthusiasts. Time will tell. Lodging update - the Drury Inn that we've stayed at the past few years is now a Peartree (Drury property). They will still have the hot breakfast but only snacks, wine and beer in the evening instead of the "Kickback" that we used to have. Cost has gone down $25/night for the rooms, though. If you booked a room last year, you need do nothing more; your reservation is secure. The club will only have one suite instead of two at the track due to an anticipated drop in participation for 2019.
No new arrivals for November.
